Iconography and Narratives
Political Iconography and Narratives in Right-Wing Extremism
How is the political iconography of the far right evolving?
What imagery, symbols, and narratives are being used?
What is the connection to Bavaria?
Far-right discourses have changed—especially due to modernized forms of communication that bring new ways of using visual material. For this reason, the team in this second collaborative research project has set itself the goal of systematically analyzing the political iconography of the far right. The focus will be on investigating which forms of representation and narratives prove to be compatible with elements of far-right ideology. Additionally, the study will examine how this imagery and ideology are normalized. Within the framework of the project, the ForGeRex sub-projects will provide a shared, interdisciplinary space for this investigation and will examine far-right iconography and narratives through the lens of their diverse perspectives.
